openAAL - the open source middleware for ambient-assisted living (AAL)
openAAL is a joint open source initiative by CAS Software AG, FZI Research Center for Information Technologies and Friedrich-Schiller-University of Jena.
It represents a flexible and powerful middleware for AAL scenarios and is the result of the SOPRANO Integrated Project.

- powerful and scalable user context management
- allows multi-paradigm context augmentation (abstraction from sensor-level information to high-level context information (including rule-based approaches, Bayesian networks, among others)
- BPEL-based workflows for context-aware behavior
